Here is a wonderful, and rare, Fender Japan Mustang E serial number. You will not find an earlier-built Fender Japan Mustang.
From my research very few E-Serial Mustangs exist (there were no JV serials) making this a rare guitar to find on the used market.
It’s a very old Fender MIJ 1969 RI Mustang in Olympic White (now aged to more of a vintage white / yellow). Built for Fender at FujiGen Gakki between 1984-87. Most Fender Japan Mustangs you will see will be later ClJs and second period MIJs from Dyna & Tokai, very few were ever built at FujiGen and even fewer had this sought-after E-serial number.
Maple neck and a really dark and dense Indian rosewood 7.25 radius fingerboard. There’s a nice 3-ply FujiGen-era tort pickguard. Neck sets up great and there is plenty of life left in the frets. Check the setup of the trem arm – parallel to the body and stays in tune / goes back in tune after whammy action.
Structurally and electrically sound, no breaks or repairs, and weights 7.5Ibs on my bathroom scale.
For a guitar close to 40 years old there are some bumps and nicks but nothing major. The most wear is to the chrome on the tremolo that is flaking a little as you can see in the pictures. It has real, authentic play wear that only adds to the vibe.
Bridge has been upgraded to a Staytrem, original is included. Original trem arm included as well. Includes a gig bag but it does not provide much protection at all other than being able to transport the guitar.
